The Killer Elephants are getting ready in ATTACKAFANT ENTERTAINMENT!!!

The Killer Elephants is one of those Thai movies Joseph Lai brough to us in Europe throught his IFD & Arts Ltd in a time when it was very difficult to access to certain asian movies. That's what IFD did, they bought dozens of movies from several asian countries & they dubbed them into English language, then each country would edit in their own language or subtitled.
I am one of the many people who "met" Sombat Methanee, Sorapong Chatri or Krung Svrilai thanks to IFD movies. And that's not all, IFD was also the firtt company to bring to Europe Panna Ritikrai movies throught its film Kickboxer king. Today many of these thai actors are well-known internationally thanks to movies like Ong Bak, Legend of Suriyothai or even Siamese Outlaws but we can't forget who was the first source we got to enjoy this kind of movies: JOSEPH LAI'S IFD.

Now, a new company in Sweeden is preparing this title from IFD to be enjoyed on its best way: A remastered dvd, including extra features, different art cover & much more. A definitive edition of this Sombat Methanee's classic.

Here's the cover for Fred Anderson's upcoming DVD release of the Thai killer animal flick THE KILLER ELEPHANTS (to be released on his new ATTACKAFANT ENTERTAINMENT label). I'm told the artwork is by Cinehound's Cteve. :D

But The Killer Elephants has got an international career since IFD distributed it all around the world, offering different art covers & even alternative titles. And it is a must see if you really enjoy bizarre asian cinema beyond Hong Kong kung flicks, samuria vendettas from Japan or dramatic comedies from Korea.

Taglines wanted!

Few days ago, Ninjadixon published this interesting post. Golden Ninja Warrior Chronicles is devoted to IFD / FILMARK / ASSO ASIA movies, so I think I must copy & paste this info to allow more people know ATTACKAFANT is going to release for first time on DVD some of the most interesting IFD movies:

Attackafant needs a new tagline for Thunder of Gigantic Serpent!

The existing taglines for Thunder of Gigantic Serpent are a bit lame, even if they are cool in that unique IFD-way:

"Today he was only a household pet. Tonight he threatens to destroy the world"

"A terrible legless creature brings the world to its knees"

"What would you do if you were a serpent, 300 feet long, and someone threatened your only friend? For Mosler, the only answer is "Kill""
None of them are really that good. A bit to long, a bit to... lame. With all respect to IFD and Mr Joseph Lai of course! So join our Facebook-page and help Attackafant Entertainment to come up with a new cool tagline. The price is the honor of helping Mosler rule the world again!

Get some inspiration from the cool trailer down below!

IFD strikes back in Sweeden by the hand of ATTACKFANT ENTERTAINMENT

From several days, these extremely interesting information has been published in NINJADIXON. Please read it carefully because if this project successed it would be the return of IFD / Filmark movies in the very best way we have ever looked forward: remastered copies, widescreen, floating subtitles, extras...etc etc etc.

I’m kinda late here in the biz, just when everything is dying and we’re leaving DVD to VOD and similar stuff. But you know, I had to do it. I had to at least once try it, mostly because I want to see some of my favorite obscure movies on non-bootleg DVDs.

So let me introduce to you, ATTACKAFANT ENTERTAINMENT. And it’s possible to write with small letters too ;)

What I miss on the DVD-market is weird Asian movies, odd exploitation from Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and so on. We’re not talking the normal martial arts flicks, we’re talking trashier stuff, wilder stuff. Mondo Macabro, one of the best companies in the biz, has released some amazing Asian stuff – but I don’t even want to compare myself with them. I’m in a much more primitive league.

I bought the rights to two movies, and those two might be the only titles I release… we’ll see what happen. Here they are…

The Killer Elephants (Thailand, 1976)
One of my favorites, this ultra-cheap and ultra-entertaining action movie with superstar-hunk Sombat Metanee will blow your mind when it comes to trashy action. The concept with the movie is that one of the gangs has trained killer-elephants who stomps, crushes and causes havoc to the poor suckers that meet them! You can read my review here. The knocked-out-by-elephant-dick-scene is a classic ;)

Thunder of Gigantic Serpent (Taiwan/Hong Kong,1988)
Yes, Joseph Lao’s cut & paste classic finally out on DVD! For this movie Joseph Lai and Godfrey Ho used footage from a Taiwanese monstermovie, King of Snake, and edited it together with new footage with legendary Pierre Kirby. No Ninjas, but a lot of monster action (Moslar!!!), a terrible cute kid and not always fitting-footage with western actors running around. What’s there not to love?

These versions where prepared for the international video market in the Eighties, so they are in fullscreen and with English dubbing. I’m using digibeta masters directly from Joseph Lai. For The Killer Elephants I MIGHT also include a widescreen version, sourced from a German VHS tape. Because of the cost I will make these on DVD-R, professionally manufactured in a factory. You won’t see any difference from a normal DVD. I will try to include some extras, but more on that later.

I bought the rights for Scandinavia, so the plan is to have at least Swedish subtitles. I’m sure there won’t be any problems for you outside Scandinavia to buy them from some store that ships internationally. I'm just a small business, nothing big and fancy, doing this to be able to see my favorite movies out on disc.

Yeah, that’s it. Check back for more info about release dates, new homepage, coverart, specs and of course screenshots.

Please spread the word about Attackafant Entertaiment and I would be very happy :)

/Fred

EDOWAN BERSMA, a personal friend, was the devilish SOLOMON in Thunder of the Gigantic Serpent, one of the titles ATTACKFANT ENTERTAINMENT will offer us soon.

IFD at its weirdest film: Official Exterminator 3- Joy For Living Dead ( aka Ninja Knight 4- Joy for living dead)

If you thought Joseph Lai's IFD offered us during years the wackiest but funniest movies ever made in Hong Kong, you were right. But we have to add another adjetives to wacky & funny if you want to enjoy & understand a bit better IFD universe, those adjetives are WEIRD, BIZARRE, and specially for this movie, INDESCRIBABLE. What's the reason for this?- The answer is this IFD movie: Official Exterminator 3: Joy for the living dead that was also edited on tape in some countries as Ninja Knight 4: Joy the living dead.

sOriginal art cover for this bizarre movie. In some countries Official Exterminator was changed into Ninja Knight 4

To start with, what the hell means Joy living dead???? Who gave that title? Was Eagle Leung, the art designer hired by Joseph Lai to create his fantastic video covers? The reason for this title may be caused as a direct consecuence of the previous entry Ninja Knight 3: Heaven's Hell ( aka Official Exterminator 2: Heaven's Hell), a title that tries to take us into a supernatural, unearthly feeling but it just takes us into confussion and even misinterpretation since there is not a single zombi, living dead or ghost in these movies.

New IFD art design for this Philip Ko work at IFD

Anyway, the reason explained above is not a strong evidence to tell Official Externinator 3: Joy for living dead is the weirdest IFD movie I have ever seen. Just remember Ninja Terminator...Where is the Terminator in the movie? or Ninja Dragon Where the hell Godfrey Ho hid the dragon of the title?...and so on.
Then WHAT'S THE REASON to tell Joy for the living dead is the weirdest, most bizarre & wackiest movie ever produced by IFD?
THE REASON is the source movie Philip Ko used as main body. YES, that's the reason. We know IFD used Taiwanese, Filipino, Thai or Korean action movies as main body for its cut & paste films, but this time Philip Ko was beyond and he used an EROTIC BRAZILIAN movie for his new film.

Original brazilian artwork for Doce Delirio. Check the picture.

He could have used countless korean erotic thrillers as he used in some episodies for War City saga, he could have used many taiwanese erotic action films also used by IFD like they did in Golden ninja warrior or Rage of the ninja...but he used a brazilian erotic movie. The only non-asian movie ever used & distributed by IFD.

A snapshot from Official Exterminator 3: Joy for living dead. This must be the most famous moment of the movie since it was used for the original movie poster

DOCE DELIRIO, the film Philip Ko chose to create his Official Exterminator 3: Joy For Living Dead, was directed by Manoel Paiva in 1983. This erotic drama was starred but Brazil Diva Claudia Alencar who is still working in Brazilian film industry. Philip Ko & Joseph Lai, at least, kept her name in the credits & this detail has allowed me to investigate about this matter.
At first when I played Official Exterminator 3: Joy for Living dead, I thought the source movie was indonesian or just another filipino drama because the photography & screenplay from both countries is apparently extremely similar but there was something that was weirder than usually.

Back artcover used by IFD, the famous shot is also included on it!!!

Recently, Doce Delirio has been re-edited in Brazil in a collector's edition. Of course, this edition contains the original Manoel Paiva cut only. I haven't watched it yet, but I truly recommend to track down the Philip Ko cut because as I stated above this is the weirdest & most bizarre movie ever done by IFD. There is no doubts Official Exterminator 3: Joy for living dead ( aka Ninja Knight 4: Joy for living dead) is one of those gems for die-hard trash movies collectors.
Original brazilian DVD cover

Once again, I have to recognice IFD productions still amaze me. No other production company from Hong Kong offered such madness & entertainment at such low costs. We can't forget Mike Abbott became into a cult actor dued to these movies he starred at IFD.

Beware of IFD German DVDs

Getting IFD or Filmark movies is not a specially hard target, they can be easily found in several downloading websites. But getting original sources is another story. While many people complain about the British editions stating they are cut or severely cut I must say they are wrong since I got a bunch of tapes & dvds of different IFD & Filmark movies and they were ok, even the nudity shots were edited on. So, Fans or collectors who are looking for titles such as Ninja Dragon, ninja the protector, ultimate ninja, ninja terminator, ninja of the magnificence or even golden ninja warrior must know the british editions are uncut.

Beware, instead, with avaliable german dvd editions . Most of IFD / Filmark movies are cut from 85-87 minutes depending on the tape system (there are some minor run-time difference depending if we got Pal tapes or NTSC tapes) to 75 miserable ones. The German dvd editions I got are ALL OF THEM cut into 75 minutes. So 10 minutes of footage were put into the waste bin in German.

The titles to avoid are:

-War City 2: Red Heat Conspiracy
-CrackDown Mission
-Savage Temptation
-American Eagle

The only uncut german dvd of an IFD movie I have purchased is War City: Win or Die.
